Today I passed by our home church that we have been gone from for several years. It is now closed with the name & lettering removed. There is no indication that it once was a thriving Church.
Twelve years ago our Pastor was struck down with a massive heart attack at the age of 49 & passed on to be with the Lord. The Church was seized by the Church headquarters and given a replacement Pastor who made it known the bottom line was profit. It was a complete eye opener to me. He also made it known that if we as a congregation didn't appreciate his method of preaching we could leave. As a congregation we left.
We all earnestly prayed for our Church not realizing that Jesus had plans for us all. We took from our home Church a deep relationship that we had developed with Jesus Christ. We took from the Church the honest persistence for prayer knowing that when we enter into prayer, we check our baggage at the door & seek His face first. We also took from the Church a knowledge that the Word of God is the final authority to all things & no tradition or opinion could change that truth.
We feel like wanders in this world. As a congregation, none of us feel like we are at home in any other Church congregation. But we have learned to praise & worship the Lord wherever we are. We share what we can that we have learned.
My heart aches at the thought of the building closed down, but it is just a building. We are the Church. But my husband was baptized there & filled with the Holy Spirit. Our daughter was touched by the Holy Spirit there. We renewed our wedding vows there. And our tears stained the altar as we prayed for one another.
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
How many more Churches will close their doors before we as the Body of Christ will put away our worldly pride & desires to seek His face that He may accomplish His best for us, our communities, our nation before it's too late. The cry for repentance is falling on deaf ears. The days for grand revival are becoming fewer.
Jesus is coming soon. Be ready. Pray always, Pray without ceasing for His Will to be done for the glory of Jesus Christ.
