I have overcome the world....John 16:33

Joh 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
(NKJV)

I saw myself lowly and confined to the ways of the world. For in as much as I tried, I could not rise above my troubles. Then came the voice of the Holy Spirit. He spake to my heart these words.

"Yes, you cannot. But there is One Whom has already won the victory over your troubles for you. Call upon the name of Jesus and watch yourself rise above it like the eagle. Then you will soar high above your troubles. Feel the freedom as you lift off from the weight of sin.

Come fly with Jesus and He will teach you how to soar.     BSW

Isa 40:31 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Mt 4:19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

New Years evening, I watched as a neighboring abandoned house burned to the ground. This house had been an object of struggle between the town council and it's owner/investor for many years. As I watched, the blaze, fanned by the gusting winds, billowed against the night's sky showering embers across our small town.

Passersby drove slowly, as the local church congregation gathered for their Sunday evening services, seemingly without notice of the blaze. 911 was called and the fire department came later. In the meantime the house was fully engulfed with flames that topped the nearby trees. The crackle of the flames could be heard across town.

Only after the fire department arrived did the citizens take notice of the fire. By this time the house had collapsed into ashes and rubble.

Prayers whispered under the breath for the safety of everyone involved were soon answered by the presence of the Holy Spirit. He began to reveal the similarities of lives that are abandoned by His church, His people. These lives are sometimes caught in the struggle of religious red tape known as tradition and are lost in the process waiting for the promise of restoration that never comes. Meanwhile, they crash and burn without notice. We judge by our sense of worth and value, never seeing the plan and purpose that Jesus had in mind when that particular life was created.

As with the good Samaritan (Luke 10:33) we need to keep our eyes firmly fixed on all the lost, to be ready to come to the aid of an individual, not looking at the package but looking through the eyes of our Father in Heaven. No human eye can see the heart but only our Father in Heaven. Picking up our cross and following Him into the lives of what our society calls the "throwaways," but Jesus calls "His children", is where that cross may lead us. Let us take notice before the crash and burn. Let us take notice of the life not the aftermath of the rubble that makes up the ten o'clock news. Let us therefore follow.

A New Year has come to us. It is new to us but it has always existed with our Father.  Let us take advantage of each new day with all the promises of Heaven at our disposal. Let us come together to seek His face with all our hearts then keep our ear tuned to His voice and follow.

The message Jesus gave to His disciples was for them to come and follow. The same message is heard today if we will but incline our ears to hear. We are not only to be hearers of the Word but doers.

So come and follow. Jesus is the Way.

"Surely I am coming quickly," Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus! -- Rev. 22:20 NKJV

At this time of the year, we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we look back to that day of wonder, we need to remember His promise to return for His people, His bride, his Church. (John 14:1-3)

So much scripture points to that promise. Paul's writings in the New Testament lead the churches to the glorious promise of His return. We hope for that day each day as we rise. We ask if this is the day when the heavens will split open with the glory of our Lord and King that will flash across the globe to establish His Kingdom in this dark and dying world. (Matt. 24: 27)

We remember that this is a day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.( Ps. 118:24)  We are children of light. We are not in darkness or in ignorance.( 1 Thess. 5:5)  We have the written word. Likewise, we are called to unceasing prayer. (Luke 18:1) Through prayer the most awesome relationship is formed with our limitless God. We need to always remember Jesus is coming.

Even if there seems to be no way, Jesus is the way. He will make a way where there seems to be no way.
( Isa. 43:19) This is how He receives glory. He said to fear not the world because He had overcome the world.(John 16:33)

Jesus declared to His disciples that with God all things are possible. Think about the word "all". That word "all" encompasses everything we can think and everything we cannot conceive. Jesus is the God of all. Limitless. We cannot put Him in a shoebox. If we try, we lose.(Matt. 19:26)

We need to remember daily the work of Jesus on the Cross. The work of forgiveness He crafted for us with His own blood, is the beginning of the plan that was implemented before time began.(Luke 23:24) As we look forward to the fulfillment of the promise of His coming, let us not be caught sleeping, but praying always, looking for His coming. (Matt. 25:1-13)

Even so, come Lord Jesus....

Merry Christmas!

I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people...

Luke 2:9-12 --(v.11) For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord
        (v. 13,14) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying:    Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.

The celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ is almost here. Amidst the secular rhetoric by which we are bombarded  each day, we as his people must remember to hold His birth dear to our hearts. He is the reason for the season. The myths and traditions are but a secular answer to a problem of the heart.  We, as His people, are to be a light in a dark world, setting an example of truth.  The truth is, Jesus is Lord of our lives and of this season that is to last year round.

Without His birth, death and resurrection we would not have the opportunity to be reborn of Spirit into His Kingdom as His children.
I am reminded at this time of the year of my own rebirth into His body as one of His own. The tree reminds me of the tree from which He hung. The tinsel and gold reminds me of the things of this world that He took to the Cross, my sin. The lights are a reflection of Him. God is light. The rainbow of covenant has all the colors and is still about His throne.

The angels sang praise at the birth of our Savior. Let us also remember in this time to give Him all the praise, honor and glory as we remember.

Happy Christmas to all as we remember together.

Freedom in Jesus

Colossians 2:20-23 - Therefore if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations -- "Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle," which all concern things which perish with the using -- according to the commandments and doctrines of men?
These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

In this day and time there are so many coming forward with 10 step programs to prayer. We need to keep first and foremost our  relationship with Jesus Christ. He called us His Beloved. We desperately need to remember who we are in the relationship to maintain the freedom to come to Him in all things. There is no need for ritual or regulations. There is no need for a mediator.
1 Tim.2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.
We are His Beloved. We are called to pray, to ask, to seek and to knock consistently and continually.

We are the vehicle that brings the Kingdom of God to earth. Remember the Lord's Prayer.
Matt.6: 9-10 - Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Through our daily prayer we see those things that exists in heaven and ask for them to be manifested on earth. This includes the relationship we have been born into when we were born again into Jesus Christ, our relationship with others in our homes and in our workplaces, and the relationship or light we are to demonstrate to our communities. We see that there is no sickness or disease in Heaven. There are no hungry in Heaven. There is no want in Heaven. We see these things that dominate our world and understand that they are not the will of our Heavenly Father. He searches the earth looking for those who will stand in the gap and pray for His will to be done on earth  as it is in Heaven. No bells or whistles are needed to approach His throne. We are told to come boldly before His throne. All He asks is that we forgive each other as we have been forgiven. The only requirement He has given us is to forgive.

Matt. 6:12 - Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors....

This is not a 10 step program. We need to pray like never before. There are no requirements for us to meet. They have already been met by Jesus Christ. Our world is in chaos and the King and the Kingdom are coming.
We have been charged to pray without ceasing. We are to keep a song of praise and thanksgiving on our hearts and remember who we are at all times. We are the blood bought body of Jesus Christ.

Brothers and Sisters let us join in fervent prayer through the blessed name of Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit.
